For many runners, stretching feels like the obvious answer. If something feels tight, lengthen it. Simple. But the body is rarely that one-dimensional. A muscle can feel tight because it truly lacks mobility, but it can also feel tight because it is overworked, weak, guarding an irritated joint, or compensating for poor movement mechanics.
Strength training has its own reputation. It is often treated as the missing piece for faster, healthier running. That can be true, but strength without mobility and control can create its own problems.
